the Vast Sea, the Infinite Ocean

A seagull cries a warning
The tempest only moments from the bay
Yet the sky shows no sign of struggle
The blue gives nothing away
But the birds race to find refuge
From the random tyrant called the sea.

The waves grow,
The waters rise,
The tide consumes
The barren shore
Creating an infinite ocean
A sea vaster than imagination.
We have fled to join the fowls
Trenching to evade the tumult
Scouring for a shelter from the storm
But we are unable to climb the cliffs
And the path is secluded from sight

So we must construct a stronghold
And withstand the tsunami
Until eventually the weather withers away
And the heavens clear.

A seagull wails a victory call
As the sun is once more shining in the sky
And hope is once more found
In the gull’s final cry
